To prepare for action against a hostile tribe, a Crow war chief invokes the power of the Seven Stars, Old Women's Grandchild, and all other supernatural ones from Crow mythos, seeking their help and favor through the venerative smoke of his sacred war pipe. The sacred smoke carried his prayers heavenward.
