Just as provisions nourish the body, so too, natural beauty feeds the soul. A birth bark canoe, emerging from the shadowy edge of approaching dusk, glides unheard, bearing a native hunter heading home. A few lily blooms remain open in the last light and as their fragrant scent lingers, the hunter reaches out to gather one.
This he will gratefully add to the day's bounty as he returns to rejoin his family somewhere beyond this lonesome waterway.
